We’re Bringing Back Squawk!

Hello! We’re thrilled to announce that this year, Wellington Young Actors are staging a revival of Squawk! Originally created and performed a decade ago by a previous class of our talented young actors, this bold and imaginative play uses a fairytale lens to explore real-world issues.

Sadly, the themes at the heart of Squawk—homophobia, beauty standards, and toxic masculinity—are just as relevant today as they were ten years ago. This revival gives us, a new generation of our young actors, the chance to interrogate the world that we are growing up in, with all the wit, insight, and theatrical flair the play demands.

Squawk is a sharp, satirical, and thought-provoking show — wrapped in a colourful, captivating production.
